HUID

The six-character code stamped on every hallmarked Indian gold item, unique to that single piece.
HUID stands for Hallmark Unique Identification. It is applied at the assaying centre and registered against that specific item.
Because it is unique per piece rather than per batch, it ties a particular necklace to a particular test result and a particular jeweller.
It can be checked by anyone in the BIS Care app, which returns the jeweller's name and the certified purity.
When you are buying
Verify the HUID before payment, not after. A mismatch between the app and the tag is the clearest signal you will ever get to walk away.
