Rani Haar
A long, elaborate necklace worn below a choker, reaching the chest or stomach. The centrepiece of a bridal set.
Rani haar means queen's necklace, and the form is deliberately grand: multiple rows, a large central pendant, and length enough to fall well below the collarbone.
In South Indian jewellery the equivalent long piece is the haram, usually in temple style with deity motifs.
Pearl versions build the rows from graduated or multi-line strands and reserve the metalwork for the pendant.
When you are buying
A rani haar is heavy by design. Check where the weight sits: a piece that concentrates its mass at the pendant pulls at the back of the neck all evening.
