A single line of white pearls that grows as it falls, from 4mm at the clasp to 8mm across the centre front. The graduation is what gives a plain white strand its shape on the neck.

Graduating a strand means every pearl is sorted by size and placed in order, smallest beside the clasp and largest at the centre front. The line then follows the shape of the neck and carries the eye to the middle, which is why the graduated strand has stayed a classic form. It closes with a golden finish clasp set with a pearl on the face, neat at the back and worth turning to the front.
