Nath
A nose ring. Sizes run from a tiny stud to a large hoop supported by a chain to the hair.
Regional forms differ sharply: the large Maharashtrian nath is a cashew-shaped hoop set with pearls, while the South Indian mukkuthi is a small stud.
Bridal naths are often big enough to need a chain anchoring them to the hair above the ear.
Pearls appear constantly in nath design, because the shape frames the face and pearls sit softly against skin.
When you are buying
Wire gauge matters more than design here, since a nose piercing is small and heals slowly. Check the post thickness against your existing piercing before buying.
