Pearl Watch
A wristwatch strung on rows of pearls instead of a metal or leather strap.
The pearls take the place of the bracelet, running from both lugs of the case to a clasp.
Many use a mother of pearl dial as well, so the face and the strap share the same material.
Because a watch case is rigid and heavy, the rows either side need spacer bars to stop them twisting.
When you are buying
A watch sits on the wrist bone and takes constant knocks, so this is the pearl piece most likely to need restringing. Ask whether the strap can be re-strung separately from the movement.
