Bajuband
An armlet worn on the upper arm, tied or clasped. Called vanki in South India.
A bajuband sits above the bicep, traditionally tied with a silk cord that can be tightened to fit.
The South Indian vanki is a distinct inverted-V form, usually in temple style with a deity motif at the point.
Pearl versions string rows of pearls between metal terminals, so the piece flexes around the arm.
When you are buying
Buy the corded version if you can. Rigid armlets are made to one size and are the hardest piece of Indian jewellery to get to fit comfortably.
