Ear Cuff
An ornament that grips the outer edge of the ear rather than passing through a piercing.
A cuff clips or hooks onto the cartilage along the ear's rim, so it needs no piercing at all.
Ear climbers are the related form: they enter a lobe piercing but sweep upward along the ear instead of hanging down.
Pearl versions run a graduated line of small pearls along the curve, largest at the lobe.
When you are buying
Ear cuffs work by tension, so they can pinch. Try one for a few minutes before committing, and prefer an adjustable band over a fixed one.
