Toe Ring
A ring worn on the second toe, traditionally in silver, and in much of India a marker of marriage.
Bichhiya in the north, metti in Tamil, mettelu in Telugu. They are usually worn as a pair, one on each foot.
They are almost always silver rather than gold, following the convention that gold is not worn below the waist.
Most are open-backed so they can be adjusted, since toes swell and shrink more than fingers.
When you are buying
Buy adjustable and buy silver. A closed toe ring that fits in the morning can be uncomfortable by evening.
