Cufflinks
Paired fasteners that close a double shirt cuff in place of buttons. A classic setting for a single pearl.
A cufflink has a decorative face joined by a post to a back that pivots, so it can pass through both buttonholes and then lock across them.
The swivel bar back is the common modern mechanism; chain links and whale-back fittings are the traditional ones.
Mother of pearl and single white pearls are the formal choice, worn with black tie and morning dress.
When you are buying
They only work with French or double cuffs, which have buttonholes on both sides and no button. Check the shirt before buying the links.
